No sleep. All for charity. As I mentioned previously, I’m excited to be a sponsor for the 30 Hour Day, a first-of-its-kind charity telethon being broadcast for 30 continuous hours. As I type this, there’s around nine hours remaining. With the tagline of “No sleep. All for charity.”, Hosts Cami Kaos and Rick Turoczy (and an all volunteer crew of 25+ folks) are running a great program of entertainment while raising money for three worthy causes.

I was onhand for the first 12 hours of the event and I’ll be headed down for the last six hours. I’m uploading photos to this set on Flickr; here are a few of my favorites from last night:

Supporting the 30 Hour Day

November 13, 2009

A 30 hour day? Isn’t 24 hours enough? Not when you’re out to raise a bunch of money. A couple Portlanders with big ideas (Rick Turoczy and Cami Kaos) are plotting a first-of-its-kind event to be held on December 18th and 19th: a webcast telethon to benefit several worthy charities.

Rick and Cami will be livestreaming for 30 hours. I’ve committed to provide photography services as well as some other support (I figure they’re going to need a case of energy drinks in the middle of the night, right?).

The 30 Hour Day is starting to gather some big attention… it was featured on the Huffington Post and I’ve heard rumors of other big names joining in with support.

Head over to the 30 Hour Day website to learn more… I look forward to capturing what is shaping up to be a significant first in the evolution of fund raising.

I’m excited to be the official photographer for Ignite Portland, now in its sixth iteration this coming Thursday at the Bagdad Theater. Ignite events (held worldwide) feature a fast-moving format with interesting speakers on a variety of topics… all exactly 5 minutes long. Portland’s events are held at the Bagdad which provides a great setting (and some photographic challenges with interesting lighting).

Having an event, ceremony, or presentation? Contact me about having it documented with some great photography.
