Last night Google Hotpot sponsored Beer & Blog Portland, a weekly gathering of bloggers and techies. It seems the crowd always increases in size when the drinks are sponsored and last night wasn’t an exception. It was good to chat with friends old and new and of course I created some photos. It was a good exercise in low-light indoor event photography.

Over the recent holidays, I spent a few days in the small town of Neskowin on the Oregon Coast. While there I created some images, here’s one of my favorites.
Near the south end of town, this large beach house sits on a bluff. I captured it near mid-day when it was backlit by the sun behind some trees above.
You strike me as the type that’s probably a savvy local business owner. You have your local business listed in online directories, right? You likely have a business listing in Google Places and I bet you’ve added your physical business to Yelp, haven’t you?
Since you’re making the effort to put your name out where modern folks can find you, I hope you’re including photos with your listings… they’ll make your business listing a lot more eye-catching than one without any images.
And since you’re just that cool, surely you have some kick-ass photos on there and not just a few snapshots, right?
Oh. If that last sentence caused you to hesitate a bit, drop me an email or give me a call and let’s upgrade your business image on the web.
On June 3rd I’ll be leading a photowalk in Portland. The Open Source Bridge conference is happening at the Portland Art Museum, and given the geek/photographer crossover that’s often seen, I decided it would be fun to lead a photowalk.
We’ll be leaving from the Portland Art Museum at 18:00, walking through downtown and possibly ending up down near the waterfront where the Rose Festival carnival should be underway. After walking and shooting for a while, we plan to wrap up at a bar or other venue where we can chat, have a beverage, and talk photography.
I’d love to have you join us. Any further details or updates will be posted on the Open Source Bridge site.
