Join Me for a Portland Photowalk on June 3rd

On June 3rd I’ll be leading a photowalk in Portland. The Open Source Bridge conference is happening at the Portland Art Museum, and given the geek/photographer crossover that’s often seen, I decided it would be fun to lead a photowalk.

We’ll be leaving from the Portland Art Museum at 18:00, walking through downtown and possibly ending up down near the waterfront where the Rose Festival carnival should be underway. After walking and shooting for a while, we plan to wrap up at a bar or other venue where we can chat, have a beverage, and talk photography.

I’d love to have you join us. Any further details or updates will be posted on the Open Source Bridge site.

Go With the Flow at Events

I love event photography because it’s always interesting to see how things go once a bunch of people are together and their interaction drives a wide range of photographic opportunity. Last month at the Open Source Bridge conference, a couple of the sessions were swapped between rooms due to the size of anticipated crowds. One of the sessions being moved? Assholes are Killing Your Project. The other session was about teaching children about software. When the impromptu sign for the room change was made, this is what I found:

An event photographer needs to go with the flow and work with often-changing plans.
