Last weekend I traveled down to California to attend a photography workshop. I feel that it’s important to always be honing my photo skills and learning new things in order to better create great images for myself and my clients.
One portion of the workshop involved our group (seven attendees) creating images to document the Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic. Here are a couple images; or you can view all of my selections from the event.
Last week I had the pleasure of leading the photography team at the 140 Character Conference held in Vancouver, Washington. The 140 Character Conference events focus on realtime social media, with this particular conference having the angle of how public agencies can best work with private businesses and citizens to use social media as an effective communications tool. Along with an assistant photographer and a photo editor, we created images throughout the day and pushed those photos to the web for near-realtime consumption and sharing.
I had a great time doing some event photography here in Vancouver Washington at the Hilton Convention Center. Here are a few representative images from the event:

Last month at WordCamp Seattle I offered to create avatar images for anyone who wanted one. Around 40 people took me up on the offer. I ended up creating black and white images which are now online.
Here are a few of the photos; you can view the entire Faces of WordCamp Seattle gallery as well.
I’m excited to offer some free photos for WordCamp Seattle attendees. Next month, a few hundred blogging enthusiasts will gather in Seattle for a day-long conference and Hockley Photography will be sponsoring by offering free social media avatar photos for all attendees. I’ll be onsite with my gear including backdrop and lighting and will create images of anyone at the event. And no, this isn’t a joke even though I’m posting it here on April 1st…
Photos will be made available digitally after the conference.
If you’re in the Seattle area I’d love to meet you at WordCamp Seattle and give you a photo you can use online. If you need additional photos for other uses (headshots or otherwise), contact me and I can help you out.
The timing of a planned anti-war rally at Seattle’s Westlake Park was apropos with the rally at noon on Saturday coinciding with the beginning of military operations against Libya.
